The Natural Plant Compound You Should Be Eating

What is sulforaphane?

Sulforaphane is a natural plant compound found in cruciferous vegetables, like cauliflower, broccoli, brussels sprouts, and arugula. It’s well known for its powerful antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Here are four ways I work sulforaphane into my diet:

  1. Whenever I’m eating veggies, I use a bed of arugula as a base.

  2. At the beginning of every week, I chop a bunch of brussel sprouts in half, mix them in a bowl with extra virgin olive oil, herbs, and spices, and roast them on a sheet pan. The result is a perfect, multi-day snack. (If I ever tire of brussel sprouts, I use this same technique with either broccoli or cauliflower.)

  3. Another thing I like to do is incorporate riced cauliflower into my meals. It adds such a nice, subtle texture.

  4. Even though I eat cruciferous veggies almost every day, I also supplement with BrocElite capsules daily to boost liver detoxification. This product is a particularly good option for those who don’t enjoy sulforaphane-rich vegetables.

In addition to the health benefits mentioned above, sulforaphane may help:

  • Boost liver function

  • Protect the brain

  • Prevent cancer

  • Promote healthy weight loss

  • Defend against heart damage
